EG to sponsor breakfast club

Yesterday marked the start of St Antony’s Roman Catholic School’s new and improved breakfast club, sponsored by Euro Garages and the Greggs Foundation.

St Antony’s School had this to say: “We were delighted to welcome parent volunteers, children and visitors to the launch of our new Breakfast Club this morning. A hungry child cannot learn well, and in the current economic climate, parents are struggling to make ends meet. As a school, we want to support our families. The Greggs Foundation has worked with the school to promote healthy breakfasts for all, and we are thrilled to now be sponsored by Blackburn-headquartered EG Group.”

Around 100 schoolchildren attended the launch, along with parents, volunteers, teachers and some of our own representatives.

EG Group Acquires Minit Mart Portfolio in the USA for $305m

BLACKBURN, UK; September 4th, 2018 – EG Group is pleased to announce further expansion across the United States of America through the acquisition of a portfolio comprising 225 Minit Mart branded convenience retail stores and gas stations and some other related assets (“Minit Mart”) from TravelCenters of America LLC (Nasdaq:TA).


The purchase price for the acquisition, before working capital adjustments, is $305m with the Minit Mart business having recorded an audited FY2017 four-wall EBITDA of $43m. With EG Group expecting annual synergies in the region of $20m, post-synergy acquisition multiple for the deal is in the region of five times.


Minit Mart operates across nine Midwest US states that are highly complementary to EG Group’s existing US operation. The acquired business employs almost 2,500 employees and generated FY2017 revenue of $720m.


Earlier this year EG Group acquired a 762 site convenience store business in the United States from Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR), operating under the following banner names: Turkey Hill, Loaf ‘N Jug, Kwik Shop, Tom Thumb and Quik Stop (“Kroger Deal”). As part of the Kroger Deal, EG Group established their North American headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. With the inclusion of the Minit Mart portfolio, EG Group will own and operate circa 1,000 sites in the US.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.


Legal advisors to EG Group are Eversheds Sutherland LLP (M&A) and Kirkland & Ellis LLP (Banking & Finance). Barclays Bank plc have acted as M&A advisers to EG Group and have also underwritten the debt financing for the deal.

Rivington Services Top User Survey

Transport Focus have conducted their second annual large-scale survey on the experience of visitors to 111 of England’s motorway service areas.

9600 customers were surveyed with regards to overall satisfaction, aspects of visitor experience that contribute to that satisfaction and the effect of a motorway service area break on their mood.

Rivington North and South did exceptionally well, achieving 98 and 97% customer satisfaction respectively.

In terms of overall satisfaction by operator, Euro Garages placed higher than the majority of it’s competitors with an overall score of 97%, with 78% giving the highest possible rating of ‘very satisfied’.

44th Drive Thru Opens in Cobham

Friday saw the opening of our beautiful new Cobham Starbucks.

It’s the 44th drive thru in the EG Starbucks estate and boasts a unique design, with a bolt-on drive thru pod added to the listed building.

The interior perfectly blends old and new to create a comfortable setting to enjoy Starbucks’ signature beverages.

EG Group Goes West With Fuel Retail Convenience Model

BLACKBURN, UK; April 20, 2018 – EG Group is pleased to announce the successful completion of its acquisition of 762 convenience stores in the USA from Kroger Co. including 66 franchise operations, operating in 18 states and employing 11,000 associates under the following banner names: Turkey Hill, Loaf ‘N Jug, Kwik Shop, Tom Thumb and Quik Stop.

EG Group will establish their North American headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio and continue to operate stores under their established banner names.

USA is a new market for EG Group to further expand operations into and the acquisition facilitates an opportunity to secure further assets in North America.

EG Group will look to implement into the USA its successful retail brand partner commercial approach. This will entail assessing the acquired site network in terms of its retail potential, initially partnering with and investing in a few locations with recognised global and local retail brands to understand the market dynamics and consumer perceptions. Following a recognised trial period, these learnings will then provide the necessary market understanding and business model confidence to accelerate growth and roll-out of a best-in-class retail offer across the remaining network.

EG wins Asian Business of the Year 2018
